I was looking for a book set in Luxembourg and was recommended this one! A woman who has kept her job a secret from friends and family has to move to Luxembourg suddenly when her husband takes a job there. They adjust to this new world where everyone is connected to banking in some way, many people don't seem to be who they say they are, and Kate is getting suspicious.

There were ever-so-many spies running around in this book. The mystery of all those spies - did they catch on to each other, who was watching whom, was he/she or not - held my interest until about half-way through the book, at which time it began to sound a bit like a broken record, with the needle catching at "spy, spy, spy....spy, spy, spy" I kind of stopped caring.

A mild spy drama ... not really much of a thriller. Expats differs from the usual spy novel in that the primary spy character is a woman. It does give a bit of insight into the expatriate society in Europe ... some pros...some cons. The twist was a bit unique. I was not overwhelmed by this work but I would read something else by the author.

I... Liked it. Intrigue but not action, suspense without blood. This actually seems like a more genuine account of the spy life — although, who knows? — even if it doesn't make for quite such an exciting novel.

This book was only ok for me. It jumped around so fast, from time period to time period frequently within the span of a PAGE, that it was hard to keep things straight. And there really wasn't anything thrillerish about it.
