I really enjoyed this book. I was transported back to both to 1920s New York City and Monte Carlo and Paris in the 50's. There was something very powerful for me about setting a book both just before and just after World War 2 without ever really using the war as a plot factor.

Normally I don't care for books which alternate narrators and/or time periods in order to flesh out the true story but I thoroughly enjoyed it here. This story was more than a bildungsroman for it's two main characters, E
