I love Three Pines. Although this book played at a place slightly away from it, in the wilderness as Inspector Gamache calls it. The peace was shattered through the murder but still this place and story I will remember.

This time we are taken along on Chief Insp. Gamache and wife's annual summer holiday to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Located on an isolated, intimate resort (lake-front Manoir Bellechasse), an estranged family is having a reunion, of sorts, sharing the lodge with Gamache and his wife. And wherever the Inspector goes, you know murder is sure to follow.

Another brilliant offering from Louise Penny. I was unsure who the murderer was right up until the end. I thought I had figured out the "how," but she was, once again, more clever than I. I really can't say enough good things about this author and this series. They're so well written. The language is beautiful, the plots are tight, the characters are so very likable. I am impressed yet again, and waiting eagerly for the fifth installment.

Enjoyed the storied experiences of Armand and his wife, Reine-Marie, taking time together on location in beautiful settings in celebration and relaxation. Adding to the realism of these endearing characters.
All prior to realities they soon encounter amongst fellow guests at the lodge. Unique and Unusual cast.
Canadian author and location in Quebec.

This was my least favorite of the series, although a satisfying mystery. I was glad to spend more time with Gamache's wife, Reine-Marie. It was still an enjoyable read, one of the best ways to spend my nights. I just wasn't as interested in some of the new characters introduced.
