I'm writing this through my tears as I have just finished reading this marvelous book. I don't know when I have been so overwhelmed by a novel. What a story! Ove is without doubt the most crotchety, curmudgeonly, cranky man you will ever fall in love with. But, fall in love you will.

Just a note: Ove pronounced: Ew...Va.
Ove turned into a grumpy man after his wife dies. He is always protecting the cat, even though he says he doesn't like cats and only drives a Saab car. The book goes along with Ove talking about wanting to kill himself and is planning it out. However, everything and everyone just seems to get in the way and delays his plans. Ove just wants to be with his wife and misses her terribly.
I did laugh at some parts of the book. Ove gets a diagnosis that he is dyin ...more
