I'm writing this through my tears as I have just finished reading this marvelous book. I don't know when I have been so overwhelmed by a novel. What a story! Ove is without doubt the most crotchety, curmudgeonly, cranky man you will ever fall in love with. But, fall in love you will.

Ove's story, in the deft hands of Fredrik Backman is told so patiently and with such nuance that each page unfolds like a lovely flower. It's the kind of book I wish I had not read so that I could have the pleasure ...more

Just a note: Ove pronounced: Ew...Va.

Ove turned into a grumpy man after his wife dies. He is always protecting the cat, even though he says he doesn't like cats and only drives a Saab car. The book goes along with Ove talking about wanting to kill himself and is planning it out. However, everything and everyone just seems to get in the way and delays his plans. Ove just wants to be with his wife and misses her terribly.
