Louise Penny has become one of my absolute favorites...or should I say Chief Inspector Armand Gamache.
Inspector Gamache is back in Three Pines to investigate the mysterious death of a woman nobody seemed to like, including her husband and daughter. I was hoping to never see Agent Nichol, but it appears she's going to play a role in Inspector Gamache's life that we've yet to figure out -- but whatever it is, her hatred of the man will hopefully be her downfall.

I really like this series. I am no longer certain of how a series becomes designated as a "cozy," because to me, "cozy" = overly precious/clever/silly. This series IS clever, and the setting and characters are people you actually like and wish you knew. There isn't gore or violence. But it's far from precious. Louise Penny has a very good eye for detail, and her novels are marvelously plotted, littered with red herrings, and full of likable people you come to think of as your friends. This book

Love these books! I want to move to Three Pines, sit at the Bistro and read all day.
It is so refreshing to not know "who done it" until the last page. In this instance it was just all so very sad and tragic. The "victim" was more of a "victimizer".
We learn more of the Arnot case and some conspiracies are exposed to the reader.
Quebec is not a place I have desired to visit but this series is changing that. The author makes the area sound very inviting and picturesque.

This one's situation was a little convoluted. Still, enjoyed getting to know the characters.
