I’m surprised at how much I truly enjoyed this intriguing mystery based on a true story – the mysterious disappearance in 1930 of Judge Joseph Crater, who was never found. The storyline, made all the more deliciously alluring and enticing by the smokey voice of narrator Anne Marie Lee, shifts back and forth between the 1920s, 1930s and 1960s. The Wife, The Maid and the Mistress by Ariel Lawhon is an intriguing mystery told from the perspective of complex women in a time when women were regarded as arm candy for powerful men. Maybe the men should not have underestimated these women!
