First book by this author but definitely won't be the last. I picked up this book because the title intrigued me. Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down. The prose is simple yet poetic and exquisite. There's no major drama or action happening. It's a simple story of a simple man, told in simple words. Definitely a good read. ...more

I will heartily agree with other reviewers that this book is not for everyone. And I am in that "not-for-me" category. I have read references to "Q-literature" or quiet literature and that was certainly how I felt as I read this. I would also use the word minimalist to describe this narrative.

For me, the book was too sparse for my enjoyment. It was not an enjoyable experience for me reading this. I think I enjoyed the story, which had some interesting threads - but often found myself wanting so
