One dimensional characters. Improbable situations built up just for the sake of being a situation. Unbelievably, the young adult falling for the next tall ruggedly handsome, preferably poor conflicted man she meets trope (tripe?). And some sloppy editing (disgust and annoyance are not the same - but that's how it's used in this book!). Passable prose (some of the metaphors were so misplaced, I could feel the distaste in my mouth - yep!).
