I keep coming back to China. In books, I mean. It is fascinating and horrifying to read about life during Mao’s regime, and the Cultural Revolution. Zhu Xiao-Mei’s story is a little bit different because due to “brain washing” at a very young age, she was an active participant in the Cultural Revolution. There was no other way for her, really.
