Enjoyed the character and the Venetian setting very much. I will continue with series.
After reading two other books in Donna Leon's " Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery" series, I came upon this, her first-written book of the series at a yard sale for 25 cents. I figured it was a good investment: I had liked her writing style, her characters and her plots, and even if I found book #1 to be a little rudimentary, I was prepared to accept it as the start of a good thing! I needn't have worried; I enjoyed it from the first page to the last.

A slow start on this one, but having just finished it, I can say I am thoroughly hooked and this will not be the last in the series that I will read. Very well written, with alot of subtle humor, plus interesting tidbits about Italy in general and Venice in particular.
