I usually love Christopher Moore's books, but this one was truly awful. The only part I liked was the narrator, Euan Morton, who did a good job with each character.

I didn't mind that the story skips back and forth through time; I find it easy to figure out "when" it is. I just felt the story was a mess. What WAS that? Absurdist? Satirical? Historical? Hysterical?
I recommend the hardback version because the painting vignettes are in color and arranged nicely in the text. Black and white just will not do.
