So I've been hearing about this series as long as I've been reading UF/PNR on Gr. It's always in the top 10 series. I've think I've been doing good so far. I've tried a few series some have stuck and others I threw in the not for me pile.
I don't usually like reading in this tense, and at times it seemed pedestrian. But I really liked Mercy. I love shifter stories, and for the Heroine in the story to be someone who can do the ass kicking instead of needing the rescuing.

I've read a few urban fantasy, but this is probably one of my favorites alongside the Fever series. I like the characters here more, and the slow burn romance is soooo sweet <3

Mercy Thompson is a VW mechanic and a skinwalker who can change into a coyote at will. Her next door neighbor is the Alpha of the local werewolf pack. So when a young newly turned werewolf appears at her shop looking for work she introduces him to her neighbor for shelter and help in accepting his new life. However, before he is even acclimated, he is attacked at Adam's house, Adam is wounded and Adam's daughter is kidnapped. So begins an adventure that brings Mercy into working with the pack, h

I was a little unsure in the beginning, but once I hit around page 60, this really picked up and I enjoyed it. A very interesting cast of characters, and I like this strange, and scary world. I'm looking forward to more of Stefano, Zee, Warren...and hopefully ADAM! I like Samuel, but I don't like him like that :P
I was sad for many of the characters, too. Mac broke my heart and the whole thing with the Wallace's. I don't know. There was sadness. The head vampire wench is on my shit list, but we ...more

3.5 Overall, not a bad start to the series. I had already read the Alpha and Omega series so some of the world and characters were not new to me, which did help in my understanding of the world building, but made some things seem redundant. I enjoyed the first half more. The conclusion seemed a little convoluted to me and had too many twists.
