Lieutenant Eve Dallas, homicide cop in the New York central division and wife to Irish billionaire Roarke, mostly reformed criminal and electronic and financial wizard is on the case again. Dallas is the primary on a series of linked date rapes that end in murder. There are differences that are muddying the case and though the first murder seemed accidental, each subsequent murder is premeditated. Lieutenant Eve Dallas, homicide cop in the New York central division and wife to Irish billionaire Roarke, mostly reformed criminal and electronic and financial wizard is on the case again. Dallas is the primary on a series of linked date rapes that end in murder. There are differences that are muddying the case and though the first murder seemed accidental, each subsequent murder is premeditated. Young girls are being groomed in online dating forums with romantic poetry and gestures. When they meet up with the man of their dreams they are fed a cocktail of prohibitively expensive date rape drugs in lethal doses, it's a race against time to establish which innocent young girl will be the next target.

Eve must use all her skills and resources to uncover the leads and go undercover to trap a suspect. Enlisting the help of Dr. Louise Dimatto, angel doctor to the disenfranchised and Charles Monroe, high-class licensed companion (legal prostitute). (view spoiler)

As usual, Eve is ably assisted by her faithful aide Officer Peabody, her mentor, former partner and father figure, Captain Feeney of E division, his best E-man Detective McNab and top psychologist Dr Mira is on hand to help Eve formulate a profile, or should that be profiles? Meanwhile, ace reporter Nadine First is hot on the story and hounding Eve for a comment, while Roarke lends a hand/meddles in the case as he sees fit, much to the bafflement and consternation of his wife Eve.

Another great instalment in J.D. Robb's In Death Series, which focuses on the cases of complicated and damaged homicide cop Eve Dallas. Although a standalone story focusing on a particular homicide case, the novel picks up the timeline from the previous novels in the series and you'll miss key character events and developments if you skip the previous novels.

I listened to this novel on unabridged, audible audio. The narration by Susan Ericksen is top class, she does a great Irish accent and her tone for male and female characters is well developed, with great individual and recognisable character voices. It's great to have a consistent and talented narrator through the whole series of over 50 titles to date! ...more

Another case for Eve who once again uses her multitude of skills to catch the guilty.

She has started to become a bit more sociable even though it's still hard for her, and she's not as uneasy in her role as Roarke's wife anymore. He is still as amazing as ever, considerate and hard-headed and utterly devoted to her.

Eve's story continues in Reunion in Death where another killer from her past is coming for revenge.

I love this series, I can't get enough of Eve and Roarke. In this installment Eve is tracking down a pair of murderers who date rape their victums to death with a combination of very expensive, rare and undetectable drugs called Whore and Rabbit. Throughout the book, Eve is battling her own issues while being reminded of her own rape and childhood of abuse. Normally I listen to these books on audio but this time I read it and enjoyed it more. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I love these books, Roarke just gets better and better and in this one his temper shows (which makes him even hotter in my book), when Eve makes herself ill through overworking.

This is man who will do anything required to protect his wife. It's strange to think that in the 13th book of the series they are approaching their first anniversary. Time moves so slowly in this series.

Another great installment in this series. It is fascinating to see the growth Eve has gone through as both a cop and a woman. She is really getting the hang of the married thing and it is a delight to see!
