This was surprisingly good though I'm not sure why I'm surprised as I love Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Other World series. 15 year old Chloe sees ghosts and is committed to a group home for troubled teens after a disturbing encounter at school. The reason the other inhabitants - Derek, Simon, Rae, Liz and Tori - are incarcerated is a mystery. Chloe becomes friends with them all but especially the brothers, Derek and Simon. This was one of the books that I picked up at The Bookshelf.

I really enjoy Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, but I didn't know when I picked this up that this was like a YA series in that same world. Once I figured that out, my worry about liking it all faded away.

I did guess a lot of the reveals beforehand (even before I realized that it was in the same 'verse), but it was still a very enjoyable read.

This was a very good book with a heck of a cliff hanger. The themes and supernatural beings are in line with Armstrong's adult 'Otherworld' series. ...more

This book sets up the scene and characters, but nothing really happens. It wasn't boring, but I kept waiting for something to happen. And just when I'm getting interested, the book ends. Planning to listen to the next book.

I love the characters. Chloe, Rae, Simon, and Derek. I didn't really like the way it ended. Cliffhangers always tick me off. Makes you want to get the next book immediately no matter how little you got or when the release day is. But I guess that is what the authors and publishers like. ALl in all though I enjoyed the plot and the suspense. But I am torn. I dont know who I like more for her leading man... Simon or Derek. First time for that. ...more
