"Lying is easy. But it's lonely."

This is a wonderfully refreshing new story. I read quite a bit of YA and I've read stories that were close to this idea - but this felt very unique and original.

So....Mackenzie is not your average girl. She's trained in both self defense and attack moves - all without a weapon. She is skilled in the art of lying and the easiest way to hide her bruises and spin a story. And her Da taught her all of this.

Though I didn't love this book, I have to say it was definitely a unique concept. An ambitious undertaking, very creative and imaginative. Ms. Schwab's world building was excellent though a lot was left unexplained causing confusion. Were the Histories (dead copy of people) actually ghosts? That was my impression but I'm not sure that was Ms. Schwab's intention but she left it very ambiguous. There were some great twists that were rather surprising and even unsettling.
