How am I supposed to wait nearly a year for the last book?! HOW?! This book was so freaking good. So beautiful. So perfect. All the mystery wrapped up around the entire book. The political drama and the game of power around the court. The secret messages and the hidden words. The money exchanging hands in return of favors. And the small hint of romance spread around all of this. Made this book one of the best ones I've read this year so far. It was that good.

Wow, this book was PAINFUL. The whole time I was reading it I felt like I had this massive weight sitting on my chest, and it kept getting heavier, and heavier, and heavier, and I couldn't breathe, and I was dying, and then the dementors arrived and sucked all the happiness out of me, and then the book ended, and now I'm just a shell of a human being, a body totally empty of feelings and happy thoughts and happy things in general. - menor interacção entre os protagonistas
- menor destaque do Arin
- algumas raras conveniências (claramente a excepção e não a regra)

Pontos muito positivos
- personagens, principalmente os protagonistas
- os dilemas (sempre me soaram naturais e me conseguiram envolver e por a pensar) e o papel que as diferenças culturais e sociais têm em cada personagem
- a expansão do mundo (a capital como novo cenário e a introdução de outros povos e culturas)

THAT'S how much I love this story.

This is just a YA game of trones.

So much betrayal, politics, games and so, so many lies.

I really have a problem with sequels but this was amazing!

So superior to the first one.

Already bought the third one.

I can only say that I loved it and my heart is broken.

Kestrel angered me a bit in this book. I realize that she lied to protect Arin, at least she thought it was better that way. In my opinion it would have been much easier if they had spoken openly with each other and find a different way to solve things.
It was another of the aspects that irritated me a little throughout the book. So many times, but so many times that the author gave the characters an opportunity to talk and tell each other eve I can only say that I loved it and my heart is broken.

Kestrel angered me a bit in this book. I realize that she lied to protect Arin, at least she thought it was better that way. In my opinion it would have been much easier if they had spoken openly with each other and find a different way to solve things.
It was another of the aspects that irritated me a little throughout the book. So many times, but so many times that the author gave the characters an opportunity to talk and tell each other everything and they let it go, let it flow through the window.
A whole set of coincidences and misunderstandings led Kestrel and Arin to always in opposite sites and never understand each other. The truth was right in front of him but she always with the idea (wrong?) to protect him was always trying to lie to him. Since their conversations, to the letter she wrote and burned and the last letter she gave Tensen and he willingly did not give the Arin (that asshole, Tensen I Hate You), all this led to their separation and the fate of Kestrel. It angered me because I was always thinking "is now that they will understand?" Not yet, "is this moment the right one?" Nope, it seems not ... OH the anger.

Arin always believed in Kestrel's feelings and always tried to believe that her actions had a reason to be, always full of hope that she would told him the truth. I liked that about him, made him more human. Did not like the way he was treated by Kestrel and Tensen in the end, he did not deserve. Kestrel and Arin last conversation was like knives through my heart, it hurt so much, it left me mouth open.

The emperor thinks only of winning more land and have more power and go all way to achieve it. He's not interested in who he sends to the battlefront since the result is favorable for him. He is treacherous and I don't know if he likes it or not that Kestrel is going to marry the prince. The last scene between him, Kestrel and her father is awful, what kind of dad does that to their daughter. I hate both of them so much, I hope Kestrel father dies in battle (an ugly death) and the emperor to be caught by his enemies and be tortured, he deserved that after what he did, not only to Kestrel but to everyone.

The last chapter was painful, and the cliffhanger was bad for us readers but it was great for the story. I was very sorry that Arin parted away from Kestrel so angry and his anger is genuine, I think it will be very hard for him to forget. I don't know how the author will be able to get around this problem, just hope it doesn't blow it in the final book. After two books so intense I hope the third is the culmination of all these emotions and have a final 5 stars, this series does not deserve less.
I look forward to March 2016 in order to read the last book of the trilogy. These are books to read and reread again and again because they are fantastic. I recommend to all readers, it is very good indeed. ...more
