Fantastic! I was unsure how I was going to like Daemon because I liked Dawson so much in Shadows and well he wasn't the most pleasant person in it. And yes he's still acting like an asshat but I didn't mind it. It helped in the tension development between him and Katy. Which is always plus for me.

As I read this I was literally laughing out loud, some made grinning like fool some of the digs and remarks where just great. So can't wait to read the next book.

This book has been hyped like crazy by many of my fellow readers and after having read this, all I can say is, holy alien hotness, Batman! Daemon and this book definitely live up to the hype! Daemon is pure yum! And now that I'm done fangirling, onto the actual review. In many ways, this reminded me of the Lorien Legacies series by Pittacus Lore, but if John had spent less time battling Mogadorians and more time kissing Sara. Not to say that the Luxen lack for enemies. They don't. In many ways, this reminded me of the Lorien Legacies series by Pittacus Lore, but if John had spent less time battling Mogadorians and more time kissing Sara. Not to say that the Luxen lack for enemies. They don't. Mostly an evil opposing race known as the Arum and also the Department Of Defense to a degree. And there's some fight scenes and some action sequences, but the conflict is by and large, of the interpersonal and internal variety. (view spoiler) As I have stated in other reviews, I love a good opposites attract romance and Katy and Daemon are opposites in pretty much every way. And boy, do they attract! Even though this book is mostly about the beginnings of their romance, they still have some spicy scenes and swoonworthy moments. Daemon is the type of character that by all rights, I ought to detest, but I've always had a thing for cocky and sarcastic male leads and so of course, I loved Daemon! And Armentrout gives him just enough heart and just enough of a look inside him that I loved him all the more! Katy was great as well, she didn't take any of Daemon's crap and could easily go toe to toe with him and was just an all around good match for him, she was sassy and spunky and feisty and I loved that she loved reading and had a book blog! I giggle every time I think of the spaghetti scene, you'll know what I mean once you've read this book. I also liked Dee a lot, she was fun and added a lot to the story. And I liked all of the other supporting characters. I liked the worldbuilding, such as it is. I thought the whole Luxen thing was very cool and interesting. All in all, this was a fantastic start to this series and I'm so glad that I read it. Quick side note, Daemon calling Katy "Kitten" did throw me a bit. Why? Because I'm a big fan of the Night Huntress novels by Jeaniene Frost, therefore I'm very used to Bones calling Cat "Kitten." So it was a little strange to have another male lead calling the heroine "Kitten." ...more

This book reminded me of Twilight from beginning to end. It's totally a predictable, high school love story too. Human girl falls for guy that seems something other than human. It’s the summer before Katy’s senior year and her mom decides it is time to start over. Her dad died 3 years ago and her mom has never been the same, so maybe this move is a good thing. They head to West Virginia to a town that has a grand total of one stop light. Katy is trying to stay positive and when she sees her new neighbor she thinks that maybe the move might not be so bad after all, until she actually talks to him. Daemon is a total jerk!!!! He instantly acts like he hates Katy and it j It’s the summer before Katy’s senior year and her mom decides it is time to start over. He instantly acts like he hates Katy and it just goes downhill from there, but surprisingly his twin sister Dee is a polar opposite, she and Katy become fast friends. Soon Katy finds out that the twins are aliens from a plant called Lux. Because Dee wants Daemon and Katy to get along she forces them to hang out more often which turns into a disaster and leaves Katy marked. Being marked by a Luxen is never a good thing for a human. It basically turns them into a light beam that attracts any nearby Arum. Arum are the alien arch enemies of the Luxen. They have no respect for human life and will kill them for the fun of it. They are always looking for the luxens, so they can drain their power from them. If you happen to be an unlucky human who has been marked and an Arum finds you they will torture you to try and get the location of the Luxen that marked you. So now it isn't safe for Katy to be alone, and Daemon feels that it is his responsibility to protect her till the mark fade which could be weeks. Great now Katy is stuck with the insufferable, but totally hot Daemon Black.

This book was so much fun to read. The love/hate relationship between Daemon and Katy is fun and entertaining. Katy has tons of spice and attitude. She totally holds her own against the drop dead gorgeous Daemon. She is easy to like and I connected with her instantly. Another fun tidbit about Katy is that she is an avid reader and a book blogger :)!!! I totally loved her character and thought she made the perfect heroine!!!

Daemon is one of those guys that you wish you could stare at (or read about) all day long. He has killer green eyes, wavy black hair and a great body to go with his smokin looks! e also has a wonderful attitude to add to the whole package, but at the same time he does have some very endearing qualities as well. He is so devoted to his sister and would do anything for her, even be nice to Katy. Katy and Daemons relationship is so full of tension and attraction it totally draws you in. Daemon is so hot and cold that you actually feel frustrated for poor Katy.

Suffice to say I loved this book. The plot was action packed and really intriguing The relationships were well developed and so fun. The characters had attitude and great personalities. Jennifer did such an amazing job. This was my first alien book and I will defiantly be reading more if they are anything like this! If you haven't read anything by Jennifer Armentrout yet I would highly recommend you start I have loved all of her books so far. Obsidian is just one of those books that you can't put down and when you are finished you keep thinking about it for days!!! ...more

I liked this book. There is that awesome pull between the two main characters Daemon and Katy. I enjoyed Katy as a heroine, she's not whimpy and she loves books. I like that she isn't too whiny about her life, that's a total turn-off in books. She's a take charge heroine, someone I'd like to see my daughters be friends with.

Some of the trendy dialogue was distracting, but it didn't take away from the story too much. The ending didn't feel realistic to me, though. It just sort of tumbled at me wi ...more
