The premise of this short piece was interesting enough to pull me in: a somewhat lazy Crown Princess is put on the trail of a possible threat to her rule by a new court teacher. Jansen builds the tension well -- is the teacher agitating fear where there is no reason to? Does the threat really exist? Is the teacher himself the threat, using court gossip to cause other problems? I can honestly say I did not see the ending coming, but that doesn't mean it came out of left field. The true nature of
