I absolutely love anything by this author! Lovely story-telling and beautiful prose. Lively characterization and wonderful sense of place---love, love, love!
The book was well written and really showed the culture of China. Its a nice story of a friendship that despite a traditional start, ended unconventionally. Great read for best friends out there.

A novel very sweet and really heart-wrenching. Begins as two smalls girls and develops to a story that leaves you ming-boggled aftwerwards. Had some sexual content and a few moments of violence which added to the realistic feel of it. A bittersweet tale. If your into novels other time periods with a touch of life. You'll be into it.
