In Valiant, Val runs away to New York City after a heart breaking discovery. She meets several other runaways that introduce her to the world of faeries. Lolli, Dave, and Luis tell Val that faeries and magic are real and that she can steal the amber sand that allows the faeries to live among the steel to make herself feel more powerful. She soon discovers that all magic comes at a price when she has to make a deal with a troll in order to save her friends.
