So, if Sally Thorne re-wrote The Thirteenth Tale, and made it about Elizabeth Taylor*, and included bitchy emails and IMs, you might have something similar to this book. That's all okay, but it's not what I was expecting. It's not the book’s fault, but I was annoyed that this ended up being very chick-lit-y, when reviews said it was decidedly NOT chick lit.

Another 5 star read from TJR. I thought I knew what I was in for when I started this book, but it quickly changed on me and I loved every minute of it. Evelyn Hugo is a complex and fascinating character. I loved the subtle hint at a twist thrown in and didn’t see it coming until it revealed itself. I’m so glad I own this book.

From a favorite author a different kind of book than she normally writes. I wanted to love it, but no.............it just never clicked with me, however near the end I teared up a few times. 3 1/2 stars.

Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world.

I totally did not the expect the premise of this book to unfold the way it did or twist to be what it was. It was a good story that kept me interested and will make for another good book club discussion.

Another story of an actress who made it by sleeping around. Ambition over personal happiness, etc. It was interesting, though.
