What Members Thought

I'd recommend this one to anyone who loves fantasy. I can't believe I waited so long to start. This was a tremendous, epic, beautifully written story. I don't typically expect my fantasy to have great writing and character building, and this one just completely blew me away.

Kvothe, pronounced like "Quothe", is quite a main character. At least, he's quite a character in the story he is telling about his own life. For that is the conciet of this tale, that a Kvothe who has faked his own death and is living a very quiet, overly quiet his apprentice Bast would say, life as an innkeeper in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. While I don't agree that this is the "next Harry Potter," this was a great fantasy novel. Basically, the main character's name is Kvothe (pronounced basically like "quothe"). Although he now lives and passes as a normal bartender, we discover that he has the kind of past that has earned him the name "Kingkiller." The book is his history, as told by him to Chronicler. I highly recommend this book. I was so intrigued by the story that I hated having to wait for the narrator of the audiobook (who did an excellent job) to read. I wanted to have the book in my hand so I could stay up all night reading. The voice of the main character & narrator, Kvothe, is refreshing and true to the character. I can't wait for days 2 & 3.
