What Members Thought

This book really surprised me - I was expecting it to be very run-of-the-mill and merely entertaining, but instead I found myself completely drawn in and wanting to spend more and more time with the characters in the book. I can't wait to see what else Ms Stockett writes.

I resisted reading this book for a while because I thought it would be "book clubby." And of course, that reveals my own snobbery more than anything else. I must say, though, that both the premise and the storytelling were fantastic, especially as I spent the first part of the summer reading the Rotten English anthology on literature in vernacular.

As a southerner, growing up in the 60's, this book really resonated.
