The setting of Africa makes this book very different from most of what I read. I found the book to be original and enjoyable. The name of the book led me to believe that it would be a mystery, but it is really not that at all. Instead, it is an anectotal account of the background and adventures of a female detective in Africa.

This is the first book in a series and I enjoyed it very much. It's a very lighthearted and lovely read. There are several mysteries going on in this book and they are all good but for me the best part of the book are the characters, especially the main character, the head of the no. 1 ladies detective agency. I loved reading about how she started her agency and about all the people in her life. This is a new series for me and I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

Didn't care for this - seemed to lack movement. Perhaps that is why some people enjoy these - a more serene experience?
