This is one of the strangest books I have ever read. Clearly, Faulkner is a master of stream of consciousness storytelling and his characters are memorable, but I have such a difficult time enjoying such a dark story.
The premise of the story is a family taking the body of their dead wife/mother to another city to be buried. It takes more than a week to get the unenbalmed body to the city where Addie Brudsen was from. She is a rather sadistic woman and tortures her family, even in her death.

I really didn't get this book. Some authors have the art of being able to show everything by being vague, but this was way over the top. The heavy southern accent is also hard to decipher in some places until you get used to it.
