Why have I not known about Wilkie Collins before now?!?!?! Woman in White is such a delightful, complex mystery story. Lots of twists and turns in the story. While some of it became predictable, I was still totally engaged throughout the story! And of course, Collins turns out to be a close friend of my all-time favorite author, Charles Dickens. Of course he was! Both had great characters and winding plots. I will be reading lots more of Collins' writing! ...more

The story unfolded slowly as do many Victorian novels, and the author had never been taught to show, not tell. Having said that, I became quite protective of the main protagonists and was in a state of anxious anticipation throughout the story. Marian Halcombe and Count Fosco were exceptional characters, and I would have relished reading another story containing more of them.
