"City of Ashes" is the sequel to City of Bones, and the series so far is about Clarissa Fray, a shadowhunter girl who is in the midst of a large war between Valentine and his demon horde, and the Clave, the society that keeps downworlders like vampires/werewolves and shadowhunters in order. Not to mention that Clary might be in love with her brother, Jace. Also, she goes through some friendship issues with her best friend Simon. And, her mom is in a coma, her dad is an evil demon lord, and her b

Wow! The first book, City of bones is good but City of ashes is on a whole different level. I found this book completely enthralling and almost impossible to put down.
City of ashes picks up right where city of bones left off. Both Clary and Jace are struggling to come to terms with the revelation that they are brother and sister. Clary desperately wants life to go back to normal but Clary's mother is in a mysterious coma and Valentine continues to plot war against the Clave and the downworlders ...more

City of Ashes is the AMAZING sequal to City of Bones please don't read this review if you HAVE NOT READ the first book....
This book is AH-Mazin'!!! It kept me turing pages til' the very end.
Since Clary's life has taken an unexpected turn toward the hidden world of monsters that go bump in the night she has had more problems than countable. With her mom in an induced coma and her evil dad with the mortal cup everything feels like a loosing end. How could things get any worse?...

City of Ashes starts out with a an action scene and pretty much doesn't stop. While the first book was slower and focused more on developing the background, this book doesn't waste much time rehashing the world building and just jumps right in. This book was definitely darker and more sinister than the first, with our villain Valentine going after another of the Mortal Instruments and murdering Downworlder children to use their blood for his evil plans. We also learn that Valentine did something

This book was great. I kind of liked the first one better but this one I read in about 4 days so it really kept my attention. Sometimes it was confusing and I had to re-read a paragraph here or there but the story line was great. I honestly got emotional at a couple places and cried once because I have such a connection with the characters. I thought it started off mildly slow but it got to where I read 4 chapters without even knowing I read that much!

I am so glad that I started reading this series after the first 3 books were written because the author left us wanting more and I was happy i didn't have to wait for the next book to be written. Again an excellent story and the charaters are lovable and you are rooting for them to make it.

I've finally finished the series! I didn't find this book as action packed as the later novels but it was still very interesting, I would definantly read it again and recommend it to others
