This is my 5th Charles Martin book. My favorites were When Crickets Cry and The Mountain Between Us.
This story is actually a series of stories . I really loved the one about saving Carolina and her two children. It’s heartbreaking and inspiring. This is realistic fiction, but it’s a bit far-fetched at multiple points. Joseph is a 62 year old Vietnam vet with PTSD. He’s isolated himself and was also dealt a hard hand. He handles it in some weird ways. Most of them are generally good.

This eventually leads him back to his home state of Florida, where even more threads come together, eventually in a grand explosion which helps his heart to heal.
