I have read 3 Charles Martin books and they have all been so completely different and also really good reads. If you like football you will love this story. And even if you don’t like football, give this one a chance, it is about so much more. Mainly about what a man will do to win back the love of his wife. Charles Martin is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Loved the author’s note at the end of the book!!
If you like football, you will love this book. I personally got a little tired of all the football plays, terms, etc. But it was a metaphor for life. Still, I felt a little hit over the head. It's not a subtle novel and I often wished he would just get to the point. Yet I still got teary at the end.

4.5 stars. For 75% of this book I was frustrated and nervous. But the end is beautiful and packed with wisdom this world needs more of. Hope, love & forgiveness.... nothing else matters. And it's about football so....

This is a book about football, which I knew when I started it. Not my favorite topic but the interactions between the characters was excellent.
The beginning was excellent but the second half was a little heavy on football plays and the end was a little too fairy tale, story book ending.
Libby. Football hero judged wrong. Spent 12 years in jail. Real good story.
