Interesting dystopian world that reminds me of the Blade Runner (or the actual Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) and 1984. It's kind of an introspective book without a lot of action or even drama.
Finished the trilogy, but I didn't love this first book and I think it is by far the best. So if you weren't thrilled with this book, I'd read some spoilers about the other two and not bother reading them. If I knew then, what I know now, I would've abandoned the series after the first book.

I didn't have time to read this, but per usual I finished it in a couple of days. Another dystopian YA novel that is less violent than the Hunger Games and more grown-up than The Giver. This is proclaimed as a romance, but honestly the romance didn't interest me. What I found most fascinating was the power of a couple of contraband poems to start Cassia on her path of change. To let her know that you don't have to go "gentle into that good night". Words DO have power and Ally Condie does a marve

For some reason I really like Young Adult dystopian novels. This one was another fun read, but like many in this genre, the author left it open for a sequel and I always prefer it when the book has more of a clear ending. It raises the same questions about choice and agency that many in this genre do, but the approach was new enough that I enjoyed reading it and I'm looking forward to the next book. I also like the fact that Ally Condie is a local Utah author and I love to support local authors.

This book sure has a pretty cover, doesn't it? And who can resist those dystopian teen novels?? Apparently not me. However, don't get too excited -- this wasn't *nearly* as compelling as The Hunger Games. Not to mention it seemed a bit unoriginal: all its societal similarities to the Giver (a book very much worth reading, by the way), plus the obligatory love triangle (though since there's a love triangle in every book like this these days, so can I really hold that against Matched??) Still, thi

I picked this up over Christmas and didn't really get into it (the first person present tense may have had something to do with that; it's not my favorite), but this time I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of Gerald Lund's "The Alliance" (which I think is probably one of the first dystopian novels, and still one of my all time favorite books). I'm excited to read the others.

Loved it! Similar to Hunger Games in its' dystopia setting, but the characters are so much more likeable. Kept me up too late so I could finish-- that's how you know it's good.

4.5 stars: I really enjoyed this clean Young Adult fiction about a dystopian society in which everything is controlled for an individual (somewhat like The Giver). I loved the poetry, imagery and themes woven throughout the book. It has an intriguing love triangle, yet is much cleaner and less violent than the Hunger Games or Twilight, which makes it more appealing to a wider audience. I can't wait for the sequel, Crossed, to come out in November.

So happy to read a young adult novel that is appropriate for teens. This book is not only well written and intriguing, it's also very clean. I would recommend for 14+.

I could not connect with the characters, the only person I really cared about was the one that was slighted. I don't know if I'll finish the series or not.

I really liked this. I think it definitely has some room to grow and I'm excited to see where the author will take this trilogy.
