I guess I’m old fashioned but I loved this old fashioned romance. I’m so glad it’s part of a series. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Updated: *Just re-read for book club, and found it a little harder to read this time - Marianne’s complete cluelessness to Philip’s adoration is just too much! But still a fun read I enjoyed once again. Better writing for this genre than I’ve sometimes found.

This was a perfect summer read: fun, fast, and clean. There is this raging debate on Goodreads about whether this book is like Jane Austen, but seriously who writes like Jane Austen? Very few people. But this book does take place in the era of Jane Austen. So if you are looking for a light, romantic book, I highly recommend this one. I read it in 3 days!

The author majorly overused the phrase, "I looked at him through my lashes" or "he looked at me through his lashes." Seriously, what does that even mean? I did like the book, but man, Marianne is DENSE to not get the hint. She is such a strong, independent woman at times, and at others she is such a doormat. I had a hard time reconciling her two sides.

I must have liked it though, because I'm re-reading it now that I know the whole plot and can fill in the blanks better.

I love this book! I read it first back in 2019. It was my first Regency romance but definitely not my last. I'm now addicted to them and have a hard time reading anything else. This is a clean Regency romance...just the way I like it. :-) ...more

This story was unoriginal, predictable and the character's slightly ridiculous....but somehow I still loved it. It's a quick, fun read. ...more

Edenbrooke is a silly, fluffy, predictable romance novel. And I enjoyed every minute of it.
