thrilled that I joined the Feminist Book Club. This was the December pick. I don’t know why I hadn’t read anything by Butler before this novel-- maybe because I don’t read a lot of sci-fci or futurism. It's absolutely a must read!

4.5 stars. I read this for Black History Month as it's been on my TBR list for a long time (I have a lot of books like this!). I really enjoyed how Ms. Butler wrote this and the way she put the reader in the middle of the antebellum south during the years of slavery. It wasn't easy to be there and feel the horrors and inequality of white vs. black, but so important to be educated and confronted with the injustices of that time and against human beings that had a different skin color. Loved this book. I read Parable of the Sower with my book club this last year and really enjoyed it, so I decided to check out some more of Butler's work. Kindred is excellent on many levels. First off, it's a fascinating idea. The main character, Dana, keeps getting pulled back through time and space every time this one person, Rufus Weylin, is in serious trouble. The catch?
