I did it! I finished it. I read it! Wow.

Did I enjoy every line, every stanza and understand everything I was reading, nope. But..I did come away with a new picture of Adam and Eve, a very real picture..some of it I liked and some..not so much. Satan..and interesting character in him did Milton create. I felt for him, at times I pitied him.

All in all, I'm glad I read it...now it will go back on the shelf with a big check mark next to it, I did it.

Recommend it, well...If you like poetry, sure. I' ...more

I read this in high school and had to reread it for Brit Lit class. I will admit if I had not had to read it for a class I would not have picked it back up. It's an interesting poetic epic, with Adam, Eve, The Garden of Eden, as well as Satan and Hell. The fact is the poem bores me to tears. It is something that I feel everyone should read part of at least once, but it is hard to get through.
