I have listened to this story before while on a road trip. I decided to sit down and read it because I couldn't visualize the story while listening to it. I didn't like the singing parts on the audio version. (There is a lot of singing.) I did like being able to read the words they were suppose to be singing. I could skip some of the verses and it didn't affect how much I enjoyed it. I am impressed by Gail Carson Levine. She spins a good tale and I will be going back for more.

I didn't know this was set in the Ella Enchanted world when I got the book. Ella Enchanted is my favorite book so I enjoyed this one as well. This story is about the older sister of Ayoirda (is that the spelling), Ella's best friend.

In the same universe but not a sequel to Ella Enchanted.
It was a nice touch that Aza always hated apples and refused to eat them if she had a choice. She only ate the apple offered to her because she was tired of gnome food
