One of my favorite of the Newberry winners. Just a great lesson on being misunderstood.

This book is very catching. It starts off a little slow but once you are into it you are pretty much hooked. The topic is an interesting one, and very historical while the novel itself is fiction. Speare weaves and intricate story. It's enjoyable and fun to read. Plus you learn some things about the topic if covers, The Salem Witch Trials. Well written and enjoyable. ...more

I love love loved this book. Kit is such an amazing character that grows up in such a short time. This is a very realistic look at puritian new england and the daily life there.
