What an amazing, complex novel. It will probably be even better on a second read. Charlotte Bronte was certainly at her creative height when she wrote this, bringing in the question of whether it really is true that an artist must be depressed/tortured in order to achieve true genius. Whatever the answer, Charlotte Bronte is still a huge inspiration to me, and I will always consider her one of the best that I've come across. ...more
