What Members Thought
This is a book of short stories about a detective (operative) working for the Continental Agency, told in the first person. One can imagine Hammett, himself a detective for the Pinkerton Agency, identifying with this character, and I came to like this tough guy. He's a good match for the devious criminals he has to deal with, as he can spin a tale with the best of them.
