Bleh. I'm finally done! I didn't hate this book, but I would not have read it by my own free will. I found it boring and rambling, with frustrating characters. But I can see why it is a "classic."

After many starts and stops, I finally finished reading this classic. The historical setting and characters were great, but Hawthorne's long, rambling descriptions left me yawning. It was one of those books that I felt I had to read, and while it was okay it really wasn't my cup of tea.
