I'm not a big vampire fan, but I really enjoyed this book. Loved the character's voice and the way she handled the crazy road her life has taken. I'm looking forward to checking out the next in the series.

This is different from any vampire book I'd read. I like the way Rain weaves in the elements of the protagonist''s life, creating a compelling and sympathetic character. The action scenes are good and the humor is refreshing. This kind of twist is the kind of story that a less capable writer could really make into a mess, but Rain does it well.

J.R. Rain’s excellent series features Samantha Moon, vampire, mom, and private investigator. Like nothing else I’ve read, and each installment is heart-breaking and exciting as Samantha tries to be a good mother—and a good vampire.
