In my bid to re-read my way through the LA Quartet consecutively, one straight after the next I've now reached LA Confidential. It's been so long since I read this novel that I forgot just how good and complex it is (partly because the superb film adaptation helped me forget). It is a considerably more labyrinthine piece of work than The Big Nowhere and requires more concentration to follow the many strands.
