I just finished the first book in the Bloodlines series as an Addicted to YA January 2014 Book of the Month. I hadn't realized it was a spin-off of the Vampire Academy series, so the beginning was confusing since it seems to pick up right after the VA series ended. While I take it Rose was the central character in VA, Bloodlines focuses on Sydney Sage, an Alchemist who's in deep doo-doo for helping assist vampires (Moroi, not Strigoi) and dhampirs in the previous series. I loved this book. It great to see what happened to Sydney after she left Rose and the others in the Vampire Academy series. Sydney is now working closely with the vampires that her kind tries to protect, and though she does not believe that they are as bad as her kind believes. She is plagued with her feelings because she is starting to really like someone that we met in the Vampire Academy series.

I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

I've enjoyed A LOT this new take on the VA world. This spin off has sooo much potential and I really like Sidney's voice and how different she's from Rose (whom I LOVED deeply).

And OMG the end!!!! Is it June yet? I need The Golden Lily now!!!!!
