What Members Thought
Gone, an Addicted to YA Book of the Month for February 2014, is the first in a series about a community of kids struggling to survive after everyone over the age of 15 disappears. The Lord of the Flies dramatics are complicated by some I am Four style intrigue and some X-men-esque action. Despite feeling like a lot of things I've read before, I still found Gone hard to put down and will definitely be continuing the series.

not really sure what to think about this book. The idea is good, reminds me of the Tribe, but at some points the story is focusing too much on Sam/ Astrid. The Sam/Astrid part is rather shallow and artificial, but the descriptions of what happens with the children and some of the topics touched (e.g. physical and alcohol abuse) are very well executed. I am defiantly reading the next books as I want to know what the Darkness and the monster is...
Great book. There are a lot of different characters profiled and they are all interesting. With a lot of YA novels I find myself frustrated when the characters act more mature than real teenagers are but in Gone the reactions and emotions the kids go through all feels very real.
