This is one of those books, that if I over analysed it I might find some minor faults, but that in spite of any of that I thoroughly loved this book. It is a lot darker and deeper in nature than Grave mercy (which I also loved). I thoroughly enjoyed both Beast and Sybella and particularly loved the character development of Sybella as she came to accept who she was. Fantastic middle book in ...more

Oh my goodness this is a dark old book with tales of incest, murder, torture, and lets not forget the female assassins. Given all that i feel i have to state that i did feel that certain bits of this book did drag a little. I found that it was a little hard to get into but once i'd attached to the different characters it did become an interesting book. This one focuses mainly on Sybella and her past. Some of my fellow reviewers stated this book was very dark. And, I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't find this book to be nearly as dark as it was made out to be. It was dark to be sure, but I didn't find it to be super dark. Sybella starts out in a rather fragile place.
