3.5 stars: I must admit I'm having a little trouble rating this book because although it is well written (a little editing here and there wouldn't hurt), I really didn't feel eager to turn each page and the subject matter is a little difficult to digest, after all it is about teen suicide. I also felt the sexual overtones were a little overplayed and the dystopian aspect was underplayed...besides the whole big brother in the form of rehab is watching, the world was pretty much the same commercia ...more

The Program presents a future in which suicide is an epidemic among teenagers and is supposedly spread like an infectious disease. In order to save the children, certain areas are implementing "The Program" *dumdumdum* where students have their memories erased in order to take away the triggers of depression, anxiety, and desire to self-harm. If this seems at odds with the theory it's a contagious disease, you would be in good company. Something is fishy, and I wasn't quite sure if it was intent ...more
