I love V.E. Schwab. I'm a huge fan of A Gathering of Shadows, and I have to say, this is one of the best opening lines I've ever read.

The night Kate Harker decided to burn down the school chapel, she wasn't angry or drunk. She was desperate.

I had already been hooked by the concept, a dystopian world based on sin becoming actual monsters? Yes, please! And after that line, there was no turning back.

Hot on the heels of her adult fantasy book, A Gathering of Shadows, Victoria Schwab (V.E. Schwab) went back to YA with This Savage Song.

Schwab herself mentioned that this book is on the higher spectrum of YA (closer to adult than MG) and one could clearly see why from the summary.
