From the opening chapter, I knew I was in for a weird, whimsical and beautiful ride. I knew nothing about the book before I started reading it. I would categorize it as Magical Realism! This book was a whirlwind of beautiful wtf-ery. It has the quirkiness of Amelie but set in 1960s Colorado and in the presence of saints.

I had no idea what the book was about prior to reading it but if it has Maggie’s name on it, I’m all in. Beautifully written, wonderful characters. Kind of just hits you in the feels, especially how everything wraps up in the last third of the book.

You caught some tears with this one..

Loved this book about cousins, miracles, and love. Stiefvater is a must read author for me now. I need to get on the Raven Cycle books next. The music on this audio book was also written and performed by Stiefvater. Wonderful story helped by the reader of the audio book, Thom Rivera. A great way to end a reading year!
