A magical arabian fantasy /western in which a girl with a gun looking for freedom and a new world, ends up being much more than she though she was, with new friends, a revolution to fight for and an uncertain but (i hope) bright and epic destiny full of adventures.

Rebel of the Sands ha sido toda una sorpresa. Desde que salió y empecé a ver críticas me llamó mucho la atención, pero al mismo tiempo, las mixed reviews que habían me echaban un poco hacia atrás. Sin embargo, al parecer no tenía de que preocuparme. Desde el principio, Rebel of the Sands es una aventura bajo el sol, en la arena del desierto. Continuamente están pasando cosas y, mientras, vas conociendo a los personajes, sobre todo a Amani y a Jin.

Mi única pega es que el libro, quizás, ¿es muy corto? No tiene porqué ser algo malo, pero casi desde la hoja 1 la acción empieza y no para, y aunque llegas a conocer a los personajes y a empatizar con ellos, eché de menos más hojas, sobre todo para desarrollar un poco más la relación entre Amani y Jin. Me hubiera gustado que hubiera habido alguna escena más (quizás en los meses que pasan en la caravana), algo más de diálogos... Pero bueno, aún así me gustó su relación y como se desarrolló. Sólo espero ver más de ellos en la segunda parte.

En cuanto a los personajes, Amani me ganó casi desde el primer capítulo; una chica del desierto, siempre con una pistola y en busca de un futuro mejor que el que le espera en Dustwalk o que el que dicta la sociedad en la que vive, en la que las mujeres son ciudadanos de segunda. Y, mientras busca esa libertad, se encuentra con Jin, un chico misterioso y perseguido por el ejército del sultán. Si a estos personajes le añadimos mitología árabe llena de seres fantásticos y magia, un western-vibe, un príncipe que lidera una rebelión contra su tirano padre, unos secundarios carismáticos, una pizca de romance, y un par de giros que (al menos yo) no ves venir, tenemos la combinación perfecta.

As usual, ahora toca esperar la llegada de Traitor to the Throne, que espero que no sea muy larga, pero teniendo el cuenta que el título y la sinopsis salió hace sólo unos días, no sé yo... ...more

I knew I'd love this book when I started reading and found myself in a magic-filled-Arabian-Wild-West world with a sassy sharp shooter heroine named Amani who had an irresistible connection with Jin, an intriguing foreigner. As soon as their worlds collided and desert magic seemed to pull them together, I was ecstatic to have found a wonderful book to get lost in. Anyone who loves good storytelling and getting lost in fantasy will love this book! ...more

I loved this combo of old west, new magic, Arabian tale and love story. I found myself truly invested in Amani's story and survival. Jin's "swagger" drew me in and I think he proved to be worthy of her affections- a true partner who pushes as much as supports. Looking forward to the sequel and the continued rebellion! ...more
