I have to admit I was very excited for this book. Emily is one of my favorite secondary characters and so I was happy that she got her own book. That may have ended up coloring my enjoyment of the book. Expectations were just too high. Sometimes you just have to temper that so you can sit back and just enjoy the book.

While I did enjoy the book, I felt a bit let down and felt like Emily was the not the star of the book. While we got quite a bit of her character and her spunkyness, it just felt li

This book was gifted to me by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review. Expected publication: May 28th 2013 by Harlequin TEEN. Thank You.

Griffin's health is deteriorating rapidly because of his use of his powers over the Aether. Finley is still dancing around her feelings and infatuations with Griffin and with Jack Dandy. Emily and Sam are getting closer in their relationship. Someone has created a living automaton. Emily is captured and told to repair The Machinist. Kady Cross once

I enjoy the cast of characters, even if I don't love Steampunk books. I liked getting to know Emily better. I also liked that the crew was back in London so Jack Dandy could be in this book. I love his character. The Machinist is a wonderful villain. So far in each book of this series, there is a lot of build up to the big smack down with the bad guy, and then it is over in ten seconds. I always feel a little let down. There never is much of a fight and the big event is always over before it eve ...more

I liked this one best of all of them, I loved hearing the story from different characters each time, it helps you see deep into their psyche. I loved the twist of Mila and am excitedly looking forward to the book series ending. I thought (not sure why) that this was a trilogy, and now having to wait for what I can only expect to be more books is not my strong suit. I hate waiting. >:( But once I got into the world and story I can hardly wait for the last one.

A good sequel, but I enjoyed the first book a bit more.

Well, apparently I didn't mark this down when I first read it. The reread was still good stuff though. I like this series for what it is, although I do still search for the best steampunk out there, because it can be so much more. ...more

Another good book in the Steampunk Chronicles. There was some great romance and an interesting new character introduced. I'm very much looking forward to the next book. ...more

Kind of let down. Nothing really happened! Seemed like a setup for the series finale.
