No plot Spoilers! Let me start by saying I was not a huge fan of the Fallen series. I liked the idea but it is not a series I ever plan on rereading, like some others I have enjoyed. I felt the series went on way too long and went down hill with each new book. When I found out whole reasoning for the curse and Satan's fury I was like....what????? That's it???....how silly!!! Anyway, one character I did really like from the series was the dark, enigmatic, charming, witty and over all sexy Cam. I No plot Spoilers! I was interested when I found out the author decided to delve into his history more so I checked it out.

The main thing I can say about this book is ...where is Cam??????

OK so Cam is a main character but he is not the Cam we know from the Fallen series. Subtract most of the dark, charming, witty and sexy...add in some major teen angst, insecurity, fading looks, weakness, and at times down right stupidity and you have the Cam in this book. No spoilers as you can read most of this in the blurb above. The book is about Cam trying to save his lost love Lilith from Satan and her personal hell. Her life sucks and it is his fault ( not sure exactly why) so he goes into her life and high school to right the wrong. We very briefly met her in one of the Fallen books (the 3rd?) and saw a moment of their history and how it helped turned Cam to the dark side. Most of this book is told from Lilith's point of view and her head is not fun to be in. It is not badly written and the story had promise, but Lilith is rather two note ( angry or infatuated) and most of the other characters besides Satan are throwaway. ( the brother being the most interesting). The romance is bland because there is no real chemistry between them. Some of the Fallen characters do appear ( not Daniel or Luce) but their roles are really minor and not sure what they are doing there except to make the Fallen fans happy to read their names again.

My main problem (other than the personality change in Cam) is that it is repetitive and DRAGS, seriously you could read just the first and last 3 chapters and be fine. The action ( or lack thereof) in the middle seems like filler. I had to force myself to finish and once it got exciting BAM it was over.

I am not sure why the author decided to write this book other than to return to her successful series since her new one is not doing well. She can write well but this book was a waste of time. Also from a few lines at the end I have a feeling this may be the beginning of a new series. The premise has been set up to continue on. Time will tell. Overall I can recommend this book only to die hard loyal Fallen fans if you go in with LOW expectation on Cam and this story.

For others I say this is one to skip. If you do read it get it from the library like I did. It is not worth buying.
