If you read the first one, you know the plot for this one. Only Gwen & Co. are getting closer to discovering the secret of the Circle of Blood. This second book picks up where the first let off, all the characters are scurrying around, trying to uncover secrets, doing the Count's little jobs, and stomping on Gwen's heart. I absolutely loved this book. It has such an interesting plot with all the time traveling that you would think would be so confusing since the characters seem to meet various aspects of themselves from time to time, but it really isn't. Somehow the author makes it all come together and when the characters catch glimpses of themselves I instantly know that eventually is will be explained. Everything is coming together so easily.
The romance is excellent as well if a bit quick. But I can absolutely I absolutely loved this book. The romance is excellent as well if a bit quick. But I can absolutely understand why Gideon is falling in love with Gwen. She is just so interesting and crazy and lets whatever crosses her mind fall out of her lips. After hanging around with her more normal, if petty cousin, Charlotte for so long I can see how the contrast is quite attractive. One of my favorite scenes is when Gideon and Gwen go to an 18th century soiree and Gwen drinks way too much punch while insisting that it isn't alcoholic and then becoming extremely drunk. Her already free tongue gets even looser, and when she decides to sing Memories from Cats to the assembled guests I couldn't stop laughing. The whole scene was just hilarious, and Gideon is such a rock and so supportive by accompanying her on the pianoforte and trying to keep her from falling down despite the fact that he just wants to strangle her and kiss her at the same time.
The ghosts Gwen sees, especially Xemerius are so entertaining and add another layer of humor to the story. And Gwen’s best friend Leslie is more interesting with every book. There are definite dangers facing our heroes and a mystery that won’t be resolved till the final book, but the humor really keeps the story from getting way too serious. Though Count St. German is a perfect, manipulative villain that you can see through immediately. Gwen is a little naive when it comes to believing anything he says, but I suppose that her mother has sheltered her and since she is only sixteen it is understandable. I absolutely love the story and I’m anxious to continue with the final book in the series and see how everything is wrapped up. ...more

I don't know what to think about Gideon yet. I want to like him and trust him, but he is under the Count's influence and won't even listen to anything else. Hopefully his eyes are starting to open. He plays a good game. Gwen is fun and I am excited to see what she does in the future. Nobody saw her coming and I don't think they will be able to stop her once she sets her course. Ahhhh! Do I really have to wait until October for the next book? Guess it could be longer. I enjoyed this one almost as much as Ruby Red. There wasn't quite as much action and definitely more romance. Gwen drove me nuts with her lustful obsession of Gideon. It seems to be a ya romance thing constantly remaining us how gorgeous these guys are. I wish she would open her eyes and recognize there's a lot more she should focus on. And of course what is up with her naïveté about the Count? Strangling ...more

Much the same as the first book, most of the true action falls in the beginning or middle of the book, and this is a strange turn as it leaves you waiting for a climax that never comes. I did not realized this book was translated, which makes me like it better. The translator did a great job. The writing, however, could be better. I read this book in 2 days, so it was easy to get through, but like I said, we need something more to happen. Though I do like that the time does not pass between book ...more

still an interesting time travel ya series, but it moves so slowly. the first two books of the series only cover the span of a week. I finish the books needing more to have happened. entertaining though!

I loved it! I was so bummed when it was over and can't wait until Fall. I loved the tive travel twists and turns taken (say that 10 times really fast), the thickening of the plot, the romantice tension between Gwenyth and Gideon, and the overall story.
